Watling JCB opens 6th Depot- Introducing ‘P2’
This week marked the opening of Watling JCB’s 6th depot. Peterborough 2, as it is now called, was officially opened on Tuesday 25th June 2019 by George Bamford, son of JCB Chairman, Lord Bamford.
After acquiring the site, which sits directly next to our current Peterborough depot, Watling JCB has transformed and expanded the premises into a full training and conference centre.
The unit was originally bought in May last year after eagle-eyed Peterborough Depot Manager, Peter Wright, spotted it had been put up for sale. Managing Director, Richard Telfer, acted swiftly to acquire the site that was in a perfect location and matched his vision for a training centre-of-excellence.
The team wasted no time and re-development started near enough immediately. The building was expanded and renovated to exacting specifications as Watling JCB’s new conference and training facility. The building is already in use for sales and aftermarket meetings and the training of our service engineers.
Peterborough 2 will also be home for stock of JCB generator and access equipment as well as industrial machines including the Teletruk and Wheeled Loaders.
The £3.9 million project has seen Watling JCB take enormous strides in expanding the business and Richard Telfer is delighted with the outcome of the project;
“Today marks a significant day in the history of Watling JCB. This facility not only provides the perfect space for staff training, meetings and conferences, but enables us to stock even more machines and equipment. This will enable us to conclude deals as quickly as possible and to deliver machines to better meet customers’ timescales. The future for Watling JCB is very bright. I would like to pass on special thanks to Peter Wright and all the team at Peterborough who oversaw this project. They have done a fantastic job and we’re looking forward to maximizing use of the new facilities”.
