What is a Watling JCB apprenticeship?

Like all apprenticeships, the Watling JCB Field Service Technician scheme combines training with paid employment, leading to a nationally recognised and valued qualification. Apprentices will work at one of our Watling Depots but also spend time at one of our chosen Colleges and at the Global JCB headquarters in Rocester. You are supported by a designated Apprentice Officer and by our in house mentors, gaining valuable workplace skills by undertaking practical tasks and experiencing real-life challenges. Every apprentice is provided with an individually tailored learning plan, with progress monitored by the apprentice officer who makes regular visits to the dealer for on the job assessment and guidance.

How long does it last?

The apprenticeship programmes last for three to four years, depending on the individual. Most of your time is spent employed at Watling JCB where you learn on the job, but with the added benefit of some classroom and workshop tuition at the chosen College.

What qualifications do I need to apply?

Applicants should ideally have a minimum of three GCSE grades A-C and a minimum A-C in Maths and English, with a willingness to learn and an interest in working at Watling JCB.

What qualifications will I get?

IMI Level 3 Land-based Service Engineer Technician

What does it cost?

There are no tuition fees. Watling JCB pays the apprentices wages and covers the tuition and accommodation costs for the residential training.
